Frequently Asked Questions
○ The 1898 Difference
What is the real difference between 1898 and other gear companies? ↓
Unlike generic brands, we design every product from the ground up. We create our own Tech Packs, deciding on every seam and reinforcement to meet the actual needs of the professional tradesman. We don't buy what’s out there; we build it.
How do you guarantee the quality holds up to heavy-duty work? ↓
We maintain a database of direct feedback. We contact our customers 6 to 12 months after purchase to see how their gear is holding up. This continuous evolution means our products never stop improving based on your real-world use.
○ Technical Specifications
What materials do you choose for your products? ↓
We use high-density 2.7mm Buffalo Hide for durability and Sueded Nubuck for superior dexterity. Everything is stitched with 100% Dupont™ Kevlar® threading, as standard nylon simply melts under industrial heat.
What are the actual protection levels? ↓
Our gear is technically validated. We offer products designed to meet ANSI A4 Cut Resistance standards. We partner with multiple colleges and technical institutes where students and instructors test our prototypes in the shop.
